Hi Fellow Lady:) Need some help. How in the world did you create your sidebars? Just purchased Elemin theme, and I cannot figure it out. I like how your sidebar categories link to posts you’ve written in the past. Help? Your site is the coolest, and I have seen quite a bit!!

    Reply

    • Kate

Hello… apologies for the late response; I am a little behind! The answer is quite a bit of trial and error and some help from the WP tech gurus via the Elemin Theme user forum (I think each WP premium theme has a dedicated site forum. Essentially you drag across an image widget for each category, and then link to the category – it will then select all posts you’ve tagged for that category heading when visitors click on it. The WP It team can help with a more detailed answer; my knowledge of it is very sketchy. Hope that helps a little if you haven’t solved the problem yet!

Found your blog when I was researching how to add images to my widgets. I see that you have done that. I have tried everything on my blog and can’t get it to work. Do I need a premium theme? I was able to get an icon by using the image widget for one of my headings but can’t use it again. If anyone out there can help, I would be so grateful. I’m getting “mind freeze”.

Hi Rebecca; I did this by dragging across an image widget for each category and then customising with specific images; I’m not sure if this functionality is only available with a premium theme (I use Elemin). It’s worth going to the WordPress user forum for the theme you’ve chosen and asking the specific question there, and also adding a link to my other other sites that have the look you want to achieve; the gurus can then give you very specific guidance on how to get the look that you want. Good luck!

    Hi Kate,

Thought I would take the time to post my comment to say thank you for an awesome idea. I used the link for the superhero cuffs and was amazed at how great they turned out. Instead of using buttons I used foam stickers in the shape of stars. My son had a blast helping me with it (it was his 6th birthday and we invited 13 kids). So of course I had to ask friends to help me get some toilet paper rolls :) . The party was a lot of fun to plan and this idea was pretty much last minute but so easy. It’s a craft we could do at any time and have a good time. Fantastic !

    Thanks Kate,
    Charmain

Hi Kate, thank you for your blog, it’s so much fun to read what’s doing in your household and what amazing creations you’ve devised for young Harry. Your Fathers Day blog brought back happy memories of my own dad with his clunker of a typewriter, being ever so proud of it and how he would have embraced this new technology we have today. Time flies by and our lives are filled with magic moments. Thank you for letting me share some of yours and for reminding me of my own special dad. Love from down under ….. Trish x

Hi Kate – If you make it to Connecticut on your trip to New England in October, Harry would love Mystic Seaport. You would be able to board the Charles W. Morgan, an 1842 whaling ship that is a National Historic landmark and America’s oldest commercial vessel, which was launched again in July after a five-year renovation. (As Harry is fond of pirates, what could be better than exploring a ship that could have encountered them on the high seas?) There is also a re-created 19th-century village with role playing characters (and a special Sights and Frights event planned for October in honor of Halloween). Mystic Aquarium features beluga whales, penguins and more and is just down the street. On October 18, there is a family overnight where children (accompanied by an adult, of course) will be able to pick a place to sleep alongside the tanks housing their favorite sea animals. Discount coupons and information about both venues are available on line. Have a wonderful trip!!!

PS – I love your blog!

    Dear Kate,

I’m lusting after your kitchen work surfaces, the grey ones at the side and the paler island. Would you mind telling me what they are? presumably a composite of some kind?am struggling to find a closer picture of them. Huge thanks!

Hi Katy, firstly so sorry for the delay – I’ve been going through the paperwork from our kitchen and trying to look up what it was. In vain, alas – so best thing is to give Martin Moore a call (see link below), who supplied and fitted it. It was definitely a composite and comes in a range of colours; we chose a ‘mole’ kind of colour for the main work surfaces and a more beige-y tone for the island. Best of luck – and if I do track it down I will email you! K http://www.martinmoore.com/page/90/English.htm

Hi Kate, I just wanted to say how much I love your blog. The projects you do are fab and your photography is beautiful! I also wanted to ask something; in one of your posts the background looks to be a neutral table runner / placemat with a red stripe running through it – this would be perfect for my new kitchen, would you mind telling me where its from? Thank you and keep up the beautiful blog x

    • Kate

Ah Becca, I know the one you mean and alas it was a French flea market find; it’s almost 3 metres long and woven from thick, old linen, so something of a one-off. If it’s any help, there are a number of online sellers of vintage french linens if you google, so worth a trawl to see if anything comes up that fits the bill x

Kate, I just wanted to say thank you…..I made the beautiful wine bottle cover from a sheet of A4 paper, using your PDF file with the corkscrew printout, using your concise instructions. It was a doddle to do, and looks fabulous. I did, however, burn myself several times with the hot glue gun, and leave some interesting knife cuts on the bread board….but that was simply down to my impatience to try it out NOW!!!

I’m wondering if you can help – I have formatted addresses in a powerpoint document as you suggested in this post: https://katescreativespace.com/2013/09/20/the-cheats-guide-to-calligraphy-or-how-to-acquire-beautiful-penmanship-in-no-time-at-all/
I have sized the slides to match my intended label size, with one address per slide. Is there a way to print these addresses on to labels that come 6/per sheet?

I would appreciate any expertise you may have!
